Speaking from experience here, let me just say that getting paid to drink coffee is a pretty great gig. (Ok, maybe I get paid to talk about coffee and the drinking of it is more of a fringe benefit, but it’s all mouth-based coffee work, so let me have this.) But you don’t have to take my word for it, as one company is now looking for to find people to pay real, actual money simply to drink coffee. Business.org will give you $1,000 to drink coffee at local shops for a month, and they are now taking applications.
Essentially a consulting firm focusing on small businesses—like, oh I don’t know, local coffee shops—Business.org is looking for “self-professed Starbucks junkies” who are willing to their Big Green overlords and go local for a month. Participants will be tasked with visiting at least eight local coffee shops, where they will track “important elements of their experiences such as cost, quality, customer service, and average wait time.” There will be some photoing, some summarizing, maybe a little social mediating, but that’s about it. And for all this, you’ll be paid a cool $1,000.
As stated by on Business.org, there are no office hours, no drug tests, and no background checks. Just coffee and cold hard cash.
To apply, just fill out a quick application/questionnaire with your demographic information and reasons why you would be a good candidate, and send a video to Business.org “to plead your case.” Applications are open until Monday, September 30th.
