The Modbar is more than just sleek minimalism, you know. It’s also got some pretty advanced pressure profiling technology hiding just below the surface. It’s basically Hemingway’s Iceberg Theory but for espresso. But much like an 18-foot marlin on the line of an aging fisherman, the pressure profiling on the Modbar is a beast not easily tamed. If you live in Chicago, though, help is on the way. This Thursday at Café Integral, Modbar’s own Will Frith will be giving a presentation on the undercounter espresso system’s pressure profiling.
Put together by New Gotham Coffee Community to celebrate five years of Café Integral inside the Freehand Hotel, the event centers around a presentation by Frith, detailing some of the different curves that can be programmed into the Modbar. But this is an anniversary party after all, so it can’t just be educational. Following the talk, a latte art throwdown will go down, on Café Integral’s Modbar of course.
The Pressure Profiling presentation begins promptly at 4pm and is free for all to attend. The throwdown starts around 6:30pm and costs $10 to enter, which can be done the day of. For more information, visit New Gotham’s official website and RSVP via the Facebook event page.
