The Books, Broadcast & Journalism Awards nominations for the 2015 James Beard Awards were announced at the James Beard House in New York City today. Among them, three coffee-forward folks were honored.

Grant Lee Crilly, Chris Young, and Kristina Krug of ChefSteps were nominated in the “Video Webcast, Fixed Location and/or Instructional” category for their how-to videos. ChefSteps instructional videos include a twelve-part coffee series featuring James Hoffmann and Ben Kaminsky. The coffee course is available as a package online for $14.

Brandon Loper and Dalia Burde were nominated in the “Special/Documentary” category for A Film About Coffee, the 2014 documentary that focuses its lens on major coffee drinking cities and coffee growing regions in Honduras and Rwanda. The film also features insight from coffee professionals like James Freeman (Blue Bottle Coffee), Eileen Hassi (Ritual Roasters), and Peter Giuliano (SCAA).

Loper and producers at Avocados & Coconuts debuted the film at last year’s SCAA Event in Seattle, and took their film on tour in 2014, holding screening events at cafes and coffee roasteries worldwide.

The film is now available on-demand at Vimeo, $4.99 to rent, $12.99 to buy.

Winners will be announced on Friday, April 24th during the Book, Broadcast & Journalism Awards Dinner at Pier Sixty in New York City. Chefs and restaurants will be honored at the 2015 James Beard Awards Gala & Reception on Monday, May 4th at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
