What do you think of when you think of Dallas? The cheesy 80s soap opera best remembered for its Simpsons’ parody? The popular football team that has employed Mr. Glass at QB for like a decade and last appeared in a Super Bowl the year Busta Rhymes gave us “Woo Ha!! (Got You All In Check)“? The birth place of so many great musicians, including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Erykah Badu, and Vanilla Ice? Or maybe, just maybe, you think of it as a city on the culinary and gustatory come-up, home to an interesting mish-mash of food cultures from around the world and some truly exemplary American coffee bars.

Cowboys jokes aside (I also hate the Texas Rangers) it’s the last part of the above ‘graf we’re most interested in today, as Dallas prepares to host the 2016 edition of the Dallas Coffee Day, a gathering of fine coffee roasters from across the Metroplex. This is the second edition of the Dallas Coffee Day, which was founded in 2015 by Liz Goulding, a Dallas area barista and journalist, alongside Zac Cadwalader, who is the news editor at Sprudge Media Network and a staff writer over on the main page, covering Texas and beyond.

Together they’ve teamed up to unite 10 quality roasters from across Dallas for an all-day fête celebrating the city’s coffee culture. That roaster roster includes Ascension, Avoca, Cultivar, Edison, Eiland, Noble Coyote, Novel, Oak Cliff, Tweed, and West Oak, as well as grinder maker Handground. Admission costs just $15 and includes a handsome Dallas Coffee Day tote bag and mug combo designed by Houndstooth’s Natalie Hasty, unlimited swigs of sound ground and true brew from all the participating coffee folk’ll, fun and informative coffee cupping demos (for pros and n00bs alike), a latte art throwdown, an espresso bar sprodown, and a panel discussing the link between coffee roasters and coffee farms.

Tickets are available right here, but they’re going fast, so you might wanna go ahead and book some for you & yours. Learn more by visiting the official event page on Facebook or give ’em a shout at info@dallascoffeeday.com. Dallas Coffee Day happens October 15th from 10am until 3pm at Life In Deep Ellum, and kids under 12 get in free.
