I don’t care what anyone else thinks: Martha Stewart gives me life. From bouncing back from her criminal past to lambasting cut-rate Stewart wannabe Gwenyth Paltrow, Stewart has got it going on, and today she’s further proven her badassery by opening a beautiful new cafe in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood, within the Starrett-Lehigh building at 601 W. 26th Street.
The official MSC website tells the story of how this all happened:
In addition, several like-minded and enthusiastic partners came together to help realize her vision. Martha called upon her long-time associates at Kobrick Coffee to source her favorite espresso bean as well as her signature “Martha’s Blend” coffee. Her friend Wei Bertram at Arogya Teas became the trusted purveyor of artisanal teas—flying, driving, and backpacking to personally find and taste the purest loose-leaf teas from around the globe. And Martha hand-selected her favorite treats from the incomparable New York bakers at Balthazar, Baked by Matt Lewis, Chikalicious, and Bien Cuit, after what could only be described as a selfless round of pastry-tasting.
So what’s the deal with the Martha Stewart Café?!
Eater reports the cafe is a 150 square-foot kiosk.
What is the Martha Stewart Café serving?!
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc.’s press release says the coffee will come from NYC roaster Kobricks Coffee, who will provide the cafe with a private label “Martha’s Blend”, along with, and this is the press release talking, “Martha’s favorite espresso bean, which is roasted in small batches in Trieste, Italy.”
According to the official Martha Stewart Café website, the espresso is Antica Tostatura Triestina®.
As far as food goes, Martha Stewart Café goes all out. The press release says, “featured pastries will also be served at the Cafe [sic], and have been hand-selected by Martha from her favorite bakeries, restaurants, and chefs. ChikaLicious, Baked, Bien Cuit, Balthazar, and more will provide selections that will vary daily.”
What is Martha Stewart pulling shots with?
The photo shared around social media clearly shows the Martha Stewart Café will be using a La Marzocco GB5 2 Group AV espresso machine.
Is this a good thing?
This is a very good thing.
