We’re unabashed, die-hard fans of the London Coffee Festival, an annual event that draws tens of thousands of coffee consumers each year to the Old Truman Brewery in Shoreditch, London. This year’s event is poised to be the most jam-packed ever, with a second edition of the Coffee Masters tournament (entries accepted now until December 31st) and the return of the United Kingdom Barista Championship, plus a sea of pop-up cafes, kitted-out stalls, and unique coffee experiences from Europe’s best coffee brands.
We’re also huge fans of Amsterdam’s Scandinavian Embassy, a remarkable restaurant and coffee bar on the forefront of integrating coffee and food service in a thoughtful, boundary-pushing way. We’ve heaped praise on Scandinavian Embassy over the last year, including issuing them the 2014 Sprudgie Award for Best New Cafe, and their innovation in fusing food and coffee together at the highest level continues to astound, as evidenced by their recent fearless coffee dinner series.
Now, for the first time, the specialists behind Scandinavian Embassy—led by chef Rikard Andersson and barista Nicolas Castagno—will decamp from their homey confines in De Pijp for a remarkable service in London this April, as part of the ticketed VIP experience at the London Coffee Festival.
VIP tickets for this experience are now on sale. They will sell out; many sold even before today’s announcement of VIP service details. You should act quickly if you want to enjoy this experience in London. Here’s what you can expect:
* A three-course coffee and food pairing designed by Scandinavian Embassy, featuring unique pairings such as the restaurant’s famed chilled espresso and oysters pairing.
* 30 minutes of interactive service in an intimate group setting, managed by Castagno and Andersson.
* Six sessions per day in London, each with around 44 covers, in a dedicated pop-up restaurant inside the festival’s VIP Suite.
Early bird tickets run £60, and include full access to the festival, workshops and master classes, Coffee Masters, fast track entry and VIP suite access, UK Barista Championship, live music stage, and much more. If you’re lucky, maybe the chef will personally blow torch some smoked espresso butter over your Normandy oyster. It’s a beautiful thing.
