It’s true! The 2016 edition of the New York Coffee Festival is right around the corner, happening September 16th-18th. Heaps of consumers and top coffee brands from New York and beyond are set to descend on the 69th Regiment Armory in Manhattan for a three-day celebration of coffee and culture. The event kicks off in just a few days (get your tickets here) and today we want to shine a light on some of what we think will be the coolest elements at this year’s show. This is the second-ever edition of the NYCCF, and we’re looking forward to seeing old friends and exciting new stuff at the event. Here’s what’s got us the most stoked.
Competitions:
The Coffee Masters tournament debuted in 2015 at the London Coffee Festival and emerged on American shores at last year’s New York Coffee Festival. After another successful run in London the show is back again for an American round two, featuring a fierce bracket of 16 different competitors from around the world, judged by a star-studded panel of adjudicators, including Anne Lunnell (Koppi Coffee), Dan Streetman (World Coffee Events), John Letoto (Blacksmith), and David Donde (Truth Coffee). The event will be MC’d by Gwilym Davies (2009 World Barista Champion), Lem Butler (2016 United States Barista Champion) and Jordan Michelman (Sprudge co-founder). Coffee at the event will be supplied by The Roasting Party, with equipment and support provided by San Remo, Mahlkoenig, Espresso Parts, Bonavita, Pacific Barista Series, Pentair Everpure, Wilbur Curtis Company, and Battenkill Valley Creamery.
Culture:
There’s much more than just the Coffee Masters happening at NYC CF—from a dedicated latte art zone to a coffee art exhibition, demos on water and non-dairy products, to an indoor street food market and live music performances, there’s no shortage of offering on offer.
Be sure not to miss a series of talks and lectures happening at the event’s interactive demonstration space, The Lab. Presentations happen each day from brands like Ally Coffee, Double B Coffee, Stumptown Coffee, Cafe Imports, Toby’s Estate, and more.
Coffee & Tech:
There’s a veritable whirlwind of coffee and tech happening at the New York Coffee Festival, a who’s who of brands doing their thing. Some more of the coffee folks exhibiting at NYCCF include Genuine Origin Coffee, Walter’s Coffee Roastery, Third Rail Coffee, Variety Coffee Roasters, Taylor St. Baristas, Square One Coffee, Quills Coffee, Parlor Coffee, Ninth Street Espresso, Ceremony Coffee, La Colombe, Joe, Irving Farm, Intelligentsia, George Howell Coffee, Coffee Labs Roasters, Cafe Grumpy, All Saints Cafe, and Supercrown Coffee Roasters.
Expect heaps of dope tech as well, from exhibitors like Mavam, Nuova Simonelli, La Marzocco Home, Alpha Dominche, Anfim, Bodum, Bonavita, Chemex, Wilbur Curtis Company, DeLonghi, Espresso Parts, Espro, Keep Cup, Marco, Rancilio, Rattleware, and many more.
