Look at this little tiny coffee. Could there be anything cuter? Maybe a tinier coffee, should such a thing even be possible. This tiny pour over, made of just a single coffee bean, is just the perfect size to be perfectly cute.
Commissioned by Paulig, a Finnish coffee company nearing its 150th year in existence, the video is the creation of Helsinki-based artist Lucas Zanotto. In the 90-second clip, a single bean of Kenya AA+ Karindum—which I take to be a name proprietary to Paulig since all search results only yield this adorable little video—gets ground using a nail file and brewed, bloom and all, in the smallest paper cone filter you could possibly imagine. The water is heated over a tea candle and the coffee filters into a little mason jar. It’s all just adorable.
There is of course very Wes Anderson-esque music playing over the video. To be honest, it’s kinda hard to tell if they’re making fun of specialty coffee culture or just having fun with it. It does seem like the sort of video someone would make if they want to give the business to “Hipsters”, or maybe “Millennials”. But I don’t care. I love it. If this is getting the business, then business is good.
