It’s Friday and I feel like having a tea. Sue me. And this new minimalist tea brewer got met straight turnt (am I using that right?). From the makers of the Manual Coffeemaker, the design-forward pour over system (that we dubbed an inside-out Chemex a few years back), comes a Kickstarter for the Manual Tea Maker N°1, the beautifully simple tea steeping device that you need in your life RN.
Based on a gaiwan (not Gaiwain), the Chinese lidded vessel for steeping tea creating during the Ming Dynasty, the “Manual Tea Maker Nº1 is designed to celebrate beautiful teas and create a ‘slow’ experience that can be appreciated throughout your day,” according to the Kickstarter campaign. The elegant glass steeper is double-walled for temperature stability. It also includes a white ceramic lead to help trap in heat during the brewing process and a matching mug to pour into. Because why shouldn’t your tea brewer have a snappy hat and pant set?
And the best part is, it comes with tea! Manual has partnered with Chicago’s Spirit Tea to source a really great selection of teas for those backing the campaign. Black tea, green tea, white tea, two types of oolong, Spirit has selected a variety of leaves to provide the tea-equivalent to single origin coffee.
As of publishing, the Kickstarter has reached $19,000 of their $40,000 goal with tea-minus 21 days before the campaign comes to an end. Packages range from $45 to $300 and all include a Manual Tea Maker N°1 and at least two to three Spirit teas. If I were you, I’d jump on this deal like a beast, before it goes straight up to $99.99.
