UPDATE: These events have been canceled.
The 2017 London Coffee Festival is just around the corner, and like with previous iterations, this year’s extravaganza will show off not only the beauty of coffee as a standalone product but as a versatile component that is part of a larger creation, be it food or drink. And the fun aren’t confined to just the Old Truman Brewery in Shoreditch where the festivities are being held. Just a hop, skip, and a jump away at the Square Mile roastery in Hackney, three different pop-ups will be going on that continue the theme of coffee as a component.
Taking place April 6-9th, the different pop-ups will occur at different times of the day and revolve around the three most important meals of the day: breakfast, lunch, and cocktails.
For breakfast, Square Mile will be collaborating with Douglas McMaster of zero-waste restaurant Silo to serve “the future of breakfast,” which will focus on sustainability and the “microbial elements of cuisine.” Square Mile will pair this with their take on “the future of coffee.”
Lunch will be a four-course affair exploring “terroir beyond the confines of soil” with Chef Tim Spedding and Francis and Bronwen Percival. Taking place in the upstairs portion of the roastery, Chef Spedding will be designing the first three courses of the meal that will be complemented by a terroir-focused cheese course from the Percivals, “the UK’s foremost raw milk cheese experts.”
And finally, as a way of winding down from the excitement of London Coffee Festival, Square Mile has created a “tasting flight of innovative, coffee inspired cocktails” at their very chill pop-up bar.
Prices for the pop-ups range in from from £10 for breakfast to £40 for lunch. For more information or to purchase your tickets, visit Square Mile’s website.
