It’s here! No, you aren’t mistaken, confused, holiday-eggnog-adled or otherwise deranged: The 2020 US Coffee Championship Qualifiers start now, here in December of 2019.

Following an incredible Prelims cycle, we’re getting prepped for competitive coffee action this weekend in Sumner, Washington at Dillanos Coffee Roasters, hosts of the USCC Sumner Qualifiers. The weekend’s events include qualifiers for the US Brewers Cup Championship and US Barista Championship, prestigious tournaments that feed into the World Coffee Events global competitive circuit.

Yes, the season—it continues beyond the storied streets of Sumner. Once the calendar flips over to January we’ll be headed to Nashville, TN for the USCC Nashville Qualifiers, hosted at Track One. This event is the big one—it will include more Brewers and Barista competitors, plus qualifiers for three other events in the World Coffee Events competition portfolio: Coffee In Good Spirits, Cup Tasters, and Roaster Championship.

From there we’ll experience championships and more qualifiers at a series of events in Orange County, CA and Portland, OR. For a handy reference on what to expect in the months to come, check out this info graphic from US Coffee Championships.

We’ll be here for all of it, so keep following Sprudge and our competitions hub Sprudge Live for so much more from these exciting events.

Let us level with you for a second: we LOVE the competitions, and they’ve been an important part of our culture at Sprudge since day one. Now, in our 10th year of publishing, we could not be more excited to be taking on the 2020 season, and to glimpse the new heights these baristas will take the field of competitive coffee. So join us, won’t you? The battle’s just begun.
